What is BAI?

The Body Adiposity Index (BAI) is a formula used to estimate body fat percentage, using hip circumference and height.

Measurement Instructions

Measure hip circumference at the fullest part of the buttocks. For metric: height in centimeters, hip in centimeters. For US: height in inches, hip in inches.

BAI = (100 × Hip in m) ÷ (Height in m × √Height in m) - 18

Calculation Steps

1. Convert hip circumference to meters

2. Convert height to meters

3. Calculate height × √height = height^1.5

4. Calculate (100 × hip) ÷ height^1.5

5. Subtract 18 from the result

Healthy Ranges

Men: 8-21% (Healthy)
Women: 21-33% (Healthy)
